This month has been incredibly busy. So many of our projects seem to be landing at the same time, and while it’s been wonderful to be making, it’s also felt a little pressured, especially as we head into the Easter holidays. That said, our creativity is definitely blossoming this month.

Lady Of The Loom
We’ve been awarded a grant from Derbyshire Makes to bring a new idea to life. The concept, created by Mark, has been something we’ve been developing together recently and it’s been exciting to see it take shape. We’re creating a large walkabout puppet of an old lady, with the puppeteer controlling her from the inside. Below are a couple of “In Progress” photos. We are really looking forward to seeing how she interacts with the public.
“No one is quite sure where Lady of the Loom came from. Some say she’s been walking these routes for years. Some say she’s looking for something she’s mislaid.Others think she’s carrying half of Derbyshire in that battered old backpack of hers.”

The Animals
Our Senior Rec group is performing their NT Connections play, The Animals at Buxton Community School. This is the first part of the project, the next step is performing the play at The Lowry at the beginning of May. We are excited for them, it’s a great play and a brilliant opportunity to get to perform at such a prestigious venue.

Swifts
We are involved in a great project with the Derbyshire Swift Conservation. They have commissioned us to create a short performance piece on Swifts. It’s part of a celebratory event of this beautiful bird. Here’s how things are taking shape.
