I was reminded this week about the importance of play. Phil, Mark and myself spend alot of our time at a computer on admin tasks and funding applications and sometimes days are hard when you get another email telling you that your bid hasn’t been successful. So I decided to follow up an idea that my sister had sent me and I very quickly created a little finger puppet using a pair of scissor, an eggbox and a pen. I then made this character dance around the kitchen table which bought a smile to my face. So next time you see that egg carton in the bin reach for the scissor and make yourself a little friend and have a little play. There are many benefits to playing and it’s not just for kids.
Here Be Dragons.
There was one last performance of Here Be Dragons outside at the wonderful Derbyshire Wildlife Trust event “Wilder Derbyshire”. We sure were lucky with the weather after the recent forecasts. Lots of families turned out to this event and we revelled in the cloudy blue skies and sunshine on a warmi (ish) autumnal day.
Drama. Not Just For Kids!
We are running adult drama sessions on a Thursday night. Theatre Gym runs from 7.15-9 pm at St Anne’s Community Centre, Hardwick Square, Buxton. It’s a chance to get together, stretch your imagination, sharpen your theatre making skills and above all….it’s fun!
Fun Palace
It’s that time of year for us to take part in the nationwide campaign of celebrating the skills and interests in our community. We have partnered up with Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust and are hosting a range of activities in The Pump Room (Tourist Information Centre) for everyone to join in with.
