Summer Daze

Has summer really gone that quickly? It feels like it has passed in a blur. Somewhere in the middle of everything, we managed to squeeze in a holiday and take some much-needed time to recharge.

We’ve also had our fair share of disappointing funding rejections. But we’ve dusted ourselves down, rolled up our sleeves and are working out how we continue to fund the work we believe is so important in and for rural communities.

There’s still plenty happening, plenty to look forward to, and hopefully a little more summer to squeeze in too.

Conjuring Our Next Adventure

The three of us have been busy conjuring up a brand-new story for our winter tour: Robyn and the Book Monster.

Something strange is happening in the library. Books are disappearing, pages are being eaten…but who, or what, is responsible? Expect a monstrously mischievous adventure full of stories, surprises and, quite possibly, a book hungry monster!

It’s been brilliant to get creative together and shape a story that we can’t wait to share. This winter, Robyn and the Book Monster will be heading out to schools, villages and venues across the Shires.

Here Be Dragons

Phil and Mark have had a lot of fun with Here Be Dragons this summer. It’s never just about the performance it runs deeper than that. It’s always been about getting to know more about the community and connecting with the people who live there. Hopefully we will meet them all again at Christmas when we head out with our new winter show.

More Than Just Acting

We’re looking forward to welcoming all our young creatives back to REC next month. There’ll be plenty of fun, theatre-making and opportunities to build skills, but REC has always been about more than acting.

As one of our young people recently told us:

“The biggest thing I’ve learnt isn’t acting. It’s how to feel confident in myself.”

If you know a young person who might enjoy being part of REC, please spread the word and point them in our direction!

And there’s more to look forward to. We’re delighted to be taking part in NT Connections 2027, so our Senior Company will begin that adventure this autumn.
