Two actors pretend to be monster menders. They are dressed up in hats, waistcoats and colourful trousers. They are holding an old fashioned leather suitcase that has the words Useful Stuff painted onto it.

A Monster Menders World You Can Step Into

Some monsters need defeating. Others simply need somebody to listen. This summer, Babbling Vagabonds invite you to step into the wonderfully weird world of the Monster Menders, a travelling duo of creature carers who use stories, imagination and kindness to help magical creatures in need.

Temple Street Community Garden, Padfield 15th Aug 11am & 1pm

Rock Centre, New Mills 17th Aug 11am & 2pm

Serpentine Gardens, Buxton 18th Aug 11am & 2pm

Find the Monster Menders’ camp and discover the wonderfully weird and woolly, the slimiest and smelliest, and those shy, secretive creatures that slither and wobble just beyond the edge of everyday life.

This isn’t a show where you simply sit and watch, you’ll become part of the adventure. Together we’ll meet mysterious creatures, solve unexpected problems and invent stories that help calm poorly monsters. Every performance is shaped by the families who join us, so no two adventures are ever quite the same.

If your family loves stories, laughter and a healthy dose of imagination, we’d love you to become Monster Menders for the day.

“I enjoyed the show because I played a part.” — Solomon, aged 9

“Loved, loved, loved this. The children were engaged throughout and it was funny for the adults too. What a great way to use our imaginations.”

Relive The Story! Listen to the full audio story here…but maybe after you’ve seen the show!
