“Mirror, Mirror” – Spilsby Night Light

8 Feb 2024 – 8 Feb 2025

18:30 – 20:00

Our Mirror Mirror digital interactive art installation is one element of Spilsby Light Night 2025.

A mirror for one will soon make two, there’s one for me, and one for you.

So beam back light, find matches all, oh mirror mirror on the wall.”

At the heart of the installation stands an enchanted dresser – a magnificent, quirky sculptural dressing table, adorned with multiple mirrors and lights, illuminated and alive.

Members of the public are given mirrors and invited to catch, bounce, and reflect animated elements projected across the space and onto each mirror, creating a dazzling play of light and movement back onto the walls of St James’ Church, Spilsby. Within the projection field, every animated creation has a hidden counterpart, and it is the participants’ task to find and align these matching pairs. So bat bounces ball, cat chases mouse, and so on. Set within a bespoke soundscape of music and voice, this playful, cooperative challenge will unfold in real-time, drawing on the age-old enchantment of mirrors and light, but with a modern, collaborative twist.
