Threads Of Nature: From silk to swifts

Threads Of Nature: From silk to swifts
Sun 27 Apr 2025
11:00 – 15:30
We want to help you to discover the incredible journey of the swift and its connection to the silk industry with our project Threads of Nature – From silk to swift, in partnership with Macclesfield Museum. Learn how the cultivation of mulberry trees and the silk trade influenced local ecosystems and bird habitats in this fun hands-on workshop. Get creative with puppet-making and storytelling, as you explore how nature and industry are woven together. You’ll craft your very own swift puppet while learning about the birds, their migration, and how we can help protect them. Perfect for curious minds, families, and young adventurers. Your work will be part of a visual display in the museum to help highlight the migration of the swift and how we can come together and connect to the natural world.
